Antonia Macaro
I am a UKCP-registered existential psychotherapist and philosophical counsellor based in Bristol. This site is intended to give you some background on myself and my work.
You might want to book a session with me because you wish to
reflect on your life and clarify what really matters
I aim to help you to explore the concepts, values and beliefs that implicitly or explicitly make up your worldview. Reflecting on your worldview and recognising any tensions or conflicts is an important step towards clarifying what really matters and living a more meaningful and flourishing life.
explore a difficult decision or moral dilemma
I use a semi-structured method to help you to reach an accurate understanding of the situation, examine the values you want to fulfill, identify the options available and look at how to go about choosing between them.
assess your goals and choose the ones that are right for you
We evaluate your potential goals in relation to your whole worldview in order to help you to make a fair assessment of the best way forward - whether this means moving towards outward changes or altering your attitude towards what is already there in your life, or both.
You can choose to have a one-off session if you just want to discuss a particular issue, a one-off and follow-up, a set number of meetings, or ongoing sessions.
My book Reason, Virtue and Psychotherapy, which applies ideas from Aristotle's Ethics to practical issues of living often addressed in psychotherapy, is available from amazon.co.uk.
